USD gains against most currencies yesterday

The dollar gained against most currencies
USD surged after a research paper from the San Francisco Fed
showed that investors see a more modest pace of rate increases
than is indicated by Fed officials’
Bank of Japan released the minutes of its August 7-8
monetary policy meeting
The minutes revealed that the Bank would continue its policy easing,
and maintained their optimism to achieve the 2% inflation target

In recent comments BoJ Governor Haruhiko Kuroda said “I do not
believe that a weakening yen is unfavourable for the Japanese
economy” and considering the diverging paths of monetary policy in
the US and Japan this will most likely be the case.

Today’s action:

UK: Industrial production and trade balance both for July
US: NFIB small business optimism for August , JOLTS report for July
Canada: Housing starts for August
